AZ Red Hats Updates

Dear Red Hat Sisters

The Second Annual Decadent Dames’ Derby Day at Turf Paradise was a huge success and playing the ponies couldn’t have been more fun!  Nearly 250 red hatters attended a day of betting in the private dining area at the newly remodeled Turf Paradise.  Everyone went home a winner whether it was from placing a lucky bet, winning a raffle basket, or $448 from the 50/50 drawing!  The West Valley Child Crises Center was the recipient of the remaining $448.  Watch for next year’s Derby Day in an upcoming Update or on our website at www.azredhats.com under AZ Events.

Observance – Over the past seven years as our organization has grown, I see how close many chapter members have become and the camaraderie that is felt is a strong force and one to be reckoned with.  We all realize many of our members loose spouses, deal with disease and can suffer from unexpected hiccups in our lives.  Our ladies rally around our sister in need and that force can take your breath away.  For those doing the giving, realize the pure joy and satisfaction of helping a sister in need.  As each year passes, we realize there will be more sisters that will need our support and the Good Lord will bless each and every one of you who extends her hand to those in need.  What a joy it is to see how so many women forming that Circle of Friendship and making a difference in someone’s life.

Silent Sunday at the Orpheum

The Orpheum invites all Red Hat chapters the final show of the season on Sunday, April 29.  It will be a Silent Move, NEVADA , starring Gary Cooper and William Powell.  The Valley of the Sun chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society presents the movie.  A gentleman from the organ society said he'd love to see the theater filled with Red Hat ladies. Cost is $10 per person. Ron Rhodes gives a half hour concert on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ before the movie begins. He also plays all during the movie. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Doors open at 2 pm. The Orpheum Theater is located at 203 West Adams .   Why not have an early lunch at Sam’s Café and the drive over to the Orpheum.  http://phoenix.gov/STAGES/orpheum.html

Okay --- here is the deal ladies…..now listen carefully.  Do you remember Tom Jones (aka Ken Foley) at the AZ RH Convention????  Do you recall how he had you rock n’ and a rollin’ until you were breathless???  Well…guess what….if ….IF…we sell all seats at the Broadway Palm on May 19th for the evening performance, you will get a “2-fer”…what is a 2-fer you ask???  It is a 2 for 1 deal.  Tom Jones will perform for 40+ minutes prior to show time just for you.  He will leave you breathless and you will want to rock the night away….BUT….you must get your girlfriends together and book your reservations now.  I only have about a week to make this a sellout or else, we do not get Tom Jones.  This is an EXTRA FREEBIE to you.  What a deal…$50 for dinner, The Full Monty AND Tom Jones!!!  Yahoo, we can do it….but we must sell all seats.

So…for those of  you who have already made your reservations, tell your friends, neighbors and cousins, that you want to see TOM JONES too….so call the number below and get those reservations in.  If we do NOT sellout, Tom Jones (Ken Foley) will not be able to perform…so come on….let’s get on the phone and get more reservations….call # below to make it happen….we can do it!!!  What fun this is going to be…we’ll have a “2-fer” and you won’t find a better deal than that!  Hubbies and significant others are welcome as well.

On another note….if you are coming from out of town….I’ll see what kind of deals I can get on local hotels close by….and if we can get a busload (at least 30) from southern AZ, Prescott area, Payson/Show Low area, we will you a good deal on the bus trip down…just call Promenade and tell them you want to get members from other chapters together to come down for the show!!!

This will be the LAST WEEK to get your reserved seats and be able to sit with your chapter.  We plan on having “pre-show” entertainment that you will not want to miss….and the music will get you dancing!!!  Call now to get your reservation. 1-866-9 Red Hat -- 623-974-8668   We have reserved the ENTIRE theatre for an evening of fun and frolic.  Once the tickets are gone…oh, well.  We will have drawings and give-aways at this ALL RED-HAT EVENT.  Make it a fun time for your chapter and let’s not forget, it WILL BE a night to remember!!!  http://www.ptaz.com/red%20hat%20travel.net/RH%20full_monty.htm

You know you don’t need an excuse for a good time...so grab your sisters, your girlfriends and your workmates and prepare to laugh, cry and dance in the aisles!

Upcoming Red Hat All-State Events – Stay Tuned

It will be this summer before I have all the final details together for the 3rd Annual Boo Bash on October 27, 2007.  Mark your calendar and get that costume designed.  Last year was a huge success and we hope to have a repeat in a much larger venue!!

Return to Top of Page

Dear Red Hat Sisters

Thirteen days and counting…..all details are coming together for AZ’s 6th annual red hat convention, March Madness at the Marriott!  The flowers are all in bloom and the resort is beautiful.  Now…question…where is your ticket?  Do you have it tucked away in a safe place?  Next to the hat you’ll be wearing?  In the purse you will be carrying?  Make yourself a sticky note…not one…not two but perhaps three sticky notes reminding you where you placed your ticket for the convention so you will remember to find it, bring it and not to loose it!  When you friends drop by to visit you and see your sticky notes, they may want to put you away but please feel free to place the blame on me.

Just in case you forgot some of the details, please read below:

  • It is difficult to regulate the temperature for everyone; therefore, layer your clothing or bring a wrap in case you are chilly.

  • Wear comfortable shoes as the vendor pavilion is as large as ever and you will NOT want to miss anything.

  • Vendor pavilion will be open for shopping at 8 a.m.  There will be Starbucks coffee available for your purchase.  The Blue Sage Restaurant will be open early AM in case you get an urge for a bite to eat prior to lunch as our lunch will not be served before 12 noon.  There is a Starbucks inside the hotel as well with some sweets to satisfy that sweet tooth.

  • There will be limited seats near the vendor tent to rest before the doors open in the Grand Ballroom.  There will NOT be seats in the lobby area and there will be no reason for you to line up or enter the main ballroom area before we open the doors at approximately 11:30 a.m.  Therefore, you will need plan accordingly on when you will be arriving.

  • Valet parking will be available for $6.00 per car.

  • Raffle tickets will be sold beginning at 8 AM for color TV, DVD player, George Forman Grill, weekend packages at some AZ Casinos, and much, MUCH more, as well as a 50/50 raffle.

  • There will be two 16 foot audiovisual screens on each side of the stage so everyone will have the best view possible---there are no bad seats in the place!

  • The collectors tee shirts that have been designed for March Madness at the Marriott will be held at the T-SHIRT TABLE inside the vendor pavilion with your name on each t-shirt package.

Many emails have been coming my way…and “YES, we still do have tickets available.”  It is not too late to experience a day of fun, friendship and lots of laughs.  Just fill out the form below and mail as soon as possible with your stamped, self-addressed envelope and your tickets will be returned to you immediately.  The deadline for reservations has been extended to March 5 so there is still time.  Don’t miss the great time we have planned for you.  Registration form found on AZ’s website at www.azredhats.com.

March 31, 2007 – Second Annual Derby Days – ADDENDUM – This year we have a “Private” room for our Annual Derby Day which only seats 250.  At first we decided not to include the hubbies but many of the ladies don’t drive and didn’t want to miss out on the fun so we said OKAY….BRING THE HUBBIES and they can sit right next to you….but they have to promise that if they win any of the races, they must share with you or perhaps by you a new red hat….can’t have too many of those!

So, we do have limited seats left but if you will call Promenade Travel right away and tell them you are sending additional monies for hubbies to sit with your group, they will be sure to place you all together.  Now remember, this is a PRIVATE party and once we sell out, you will only be able to attend the races as a spectator in the general seating area and won’t be able to participate in our 50/50 raffle as well as our prizes which is where all the fun will be happening in our Private Dining area.  Click on link to make your reservations now.  http://www.azredhats.com/az2007derbydays.htm  1-866-9 Red Hat -- 623-974-8668

Dear Red Hat Sisters

Wow….what fun we had in Tucson on Saturday at the Birthday Bash!!!  Over 800 ladies attended from all over the state and some even came home with a little extra jingle in their pockets!  The main entertainer was a Tom Jones impersonator and as you know, there will also be another “Tom Jones” at the state convention…perhaps we should have a Tom Jones sing off!!  Ha Ha!

As many of you know…we have two upcoming trips to see Celine in Las Vegas and we’ll be staying in Primm, NV.  The first trip (Feb. 28th departure) is SOLD OUT and I believe there are two seats available on the second trip (Mar 2nd departure.)  Call Promenade Travel immediately if you want to reserve the two available seats.  As you know, this year is Celine’s last year entertaining in Las Vegas.  If you are interested in seeing her before her contract ends, please let Promenade Travel know and they will plan another trip in the October/November 2007 timeframe.  You will not need to put any money down at this time; they only want to know if there is an interest so they can order the tickets.  Call them at 623-977-8800 or 1-888-AWAY I GO or email at pts@ptaz.com

AZ 6th Red Hat Convention – March Madness at the Marriott – March 11, 2007  All tickets have been mailed for our upcoming convention.  Please put them in a safe place and most importantly, remember where they are and bring them the day of the convention!!!  The taste testing was last week at the JW and I must say….they have outdone themselves once again and the dessert will be a double WOW.  Now for a few details for you in regards to the convention:

  • It is difficult to regulate the temperature for everyone; therefore, layer your clothing or bring a wrap in case you are chilly.

  • Wear comfortable shoes as the vendor pavilion is as large as ever and you will NOT want to miss anything.
