AZ Red Hats Updates

Dear Red Hat Sisters

Has Spring Sprung?  Has Winter gone North?  My goodness, a girl doesn’t know what to wear with this strange weather we’ve been having.  I’ve gotten used to layering which gives me more opportunity to wear more colors!  One thing the public can never say about us Red hatters, we are never dull!

AZ 6th Red Hat Convention – March Madness at the Marriott – March 11, 2007  Speaking of never being dull ---- I hear there are lots of creative women out there putting the final touches on their “Mad Hat” for March Madness at the Marriott on March 11, 2007!  Excitement is buzzing with all that we have put together for your special day.  The vendors are going to mart, buying the latest in the red and purple tones.  I can hardly wait to see what they will offer!

Many emails have been coming my way…and “YES, we still do have tickets available.”  It is not too late to experience a day of fun, friendship and lots of laughs.  Just fill out the form below and mail as soon as possible with your stamped, self-addressed envelope and your tickets will be returned to you immediately.  The deadline for reservations has been extended to March 5 so there is still time.  Don’t miss the great time we have planned for you.  Registration form found on AZ’s website at www.azredhats.com.

May 19, 2007 – The Full Monty – Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre

The setting is Sheffield England , once the "City of Steel ," home of a massive steel industry and jobs a' plenty. Today, with the industry in decline and the steelworks closed down, there is widespread unemployment and despair. Two unemployed friends stumble upon a Chippendales-type show that’s very popular with the local women. Eventually they decide they too would like to give it a go, but they can’t dance and aren’t what most would call good physical specimens. They have their doubts but are determined to give it a shot. On their way, they pick up four other unlikely candidates and begin practicing for the big night. To drum up interest, they boast they’ll go "the full monty" (a phrase meaning "all the way" -- nude), something they hadn’t planned and aren’t sure they can deliver. Will they? Won’t they? Can they keep their antics from their families? Can they stay out of trouble? Can they pull a The Full Monty
Broadway Palm, evening performance includes buffet dinner crowd? All will be revealed -- well, maybe!

Remember ladies --- if your chapter has an idea for a trip, just contact Promenade Travel and they will be happy to organize it for you.  Just call 1-866-9 Red Hat (623-974-8668) or redhat@ptaz.com

Dear Red Hat Sisters

The New Year is nearly upon us and as we reflect on 2006, many of us can easily say how blessed we have been, especially if we have our health, family and friends surrounding us.  Some chapters have lost a dear friend whom they have met in our circle of friends and have reached out to other red hatters to support each other and ease the loss.  Other reflections might be helping one another through a difficult time or just being there to lend support or having a shoulder to cry on.

But let’s not forget the joy of celebrating a friend’s arrival of her first grandchild or perhaps celebrating a red hat sister’s marriage.  There are many, many reasons why our friendship circle has become so important in so many women’s lives.  We are truly blessed to have a group of women who care and support each other all the while having fun.

As we reflect on 2006 we need to ask ourselves what is important in “the” BIG picture.  Is it how many hats we own?  Is it the fact that someone is not wearing the right shade of purple in our chapter?  Our organization has changed so many women’s lives and most for the better.  The Queen Mothers are to be recognized for their leadership and endless hours of event planning and communicating to their members any news that might be of interest to others.  At the same time, we must remember to respect our non-red hat sisters who do not share the same enjoyment as we do.  I know how many times when we don that red hat, our attitudes change and we become a little spirited.  Most all businesses (restaurants, theatres, etc.) enjoy and welcome us when we arrive but some have requested not to take reservations from red hatters because of attitudes.  This is sad for our organization that we would not be allowed to make reservations at a place of business because of another group’s bad manners.  I would hope that we all remember our manners so we will be welcomed at ALL establishments. Let’s look forward to 2007 with many opportunities to play with other chapters when traveling, getting together at an event that another chapter is hosting and let’s not forget to thank the event planner as they spend countless hours creating a day for you all to remember.

Wrigley Mansion Holiday Lunch & Tour – For those of you who had the good fortune of getting your reservations in early for the Wrigley luncheon enjoyed a wonderful day and the food was delightful.  They have promised me that they would do it again but I’m not certain how soon it will be but stay tuned and I’ll let you know via e-mail when they have scheduled the next lunch and tour.

ABC BADGESFor those of you who have ordered the magnetic badges that I’ve offered on our website at www.azredhats.com, beginning January 1, 2007, please order your badges directly from them and not through me.  Jane from ABC Badges will treat you right and she will be at our convention this year in the vendor pavilion so be sure to visit her there.  www.abcbadgesandbuttons.com

Dear Red Hat Sisters

Just a short note that just can’t wait.  I hope you do share these notices/messages with others in your chapter in case they are not on my email distribution list.  I would also like to refer you all to the website that I’ve developed over four years ago to share all the opportunities that are being offered to the red hatters throughout the state.  Please refer to it often to see what is offered under AZ Events as well as the travel opportunities and theatre productions that your group may enjoy participating in.  www.azredhats.com

I got a little carried away when I talk about travel trips and for clarification purposes, the motorcoach trips that you can put $100 deposit on, are for “overnight trips” only.  The amount of a deposit for a cruise varies from cost and cruise length so $250.00 deposit doesn't apply to all cruises.  I apologize if I’ve mislead anyone but I get so carried away when I talk traveling because I just love grabbing my bag and hat, of course, and head for a new destination!

TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES

Rose Bowl Parade & New Year’s Eve Party – Dec 30 – Jan 1, 2007

We are nearly SOLD OUT but still have room for about 12 more red hatters.  We will be having so much fun and of course, we will be wearing our colors throughout the trip.  Don’t we want to be noticed?  Are we wallflowers?  I don’t think so!  We’ll be having a lovely dinner on the Queen Mary and on New Year’s Eve, a fabulous party where we will be getting all gussied up!  The tour of the float barn the evening before the parade will be tops on my list and I can smell the roses now!  I can imagine I’ll be feeling like a little kid when the parade begins and I can hardly wait.  So….it isn’t too late for you to join me for this fun weekend.  Perhaps Santa will drop you a ticket in your stocking….but don’t wait.  Call Promenade Travel now.  http://www.azredhats.com/rht2006parade.htm
