Dear
Red
Hat
Sisters
There is so much going on I hardly know where to begin!
Well, you all know I’ve moved into a new home so please do NOT send your convention reservations to the OLD address. New address is 1717 E. Cielo Grand Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85024. It has been quite an experience to say the least. My kids, as I told you before, made me sign a notarized document that I’d NEVER move again! It was quite scary for the first few days until I figured out which light switches turned what on and off! Now a new experience for me is the HOA (Home Owners Assn) I bet you all know what I’m talking about, right? Two weeks AFTER I had my front lawn landscaped I received a letter stating I was in “violation” and to remove my weeds! Good Lord, what weeds! That poor little yard hasn’t had time to vegetate any weeds I thought so I called the HOA and expressed my concerns and asked if by chance they knew the difference between weeds and plants. Well, wouldn’t you know it, the gal said she was new from Atlanta and was not used to the Arizona’s native plants and profusely apologized! Ha! I wonder how long I can get away with not pulling my weeds when they really do start to grow! Ha Ha

Therefore, if there are 12 ladies in AJ, 10 in Mesa,15 in Tempe,
and 10 in Phoenix, the bus will start picking up at a pick-up point in AJ,
continue to Mesa, then on to Tempe and finally to Phoenix to pick up the
last group and then away you go to your next red hat “Adventure in
Fun!” So please share with
your chapter members, what all motorcoach day trips we have planned for

– Red Hatter Memorial Luncheon
Ladies,
the memories of loosing one of our members never seems to go away
especially when it happens so suddenly and so tragically.
It’s been nearly a year since a very active and vibrant red
hatter left us and her loving husband had gathered all her many, many red
hats, purple clothes, accessories and even a one-of-a kind painted antique
milk can which was written about in a previous newsletter, to give to
Sunshine Acres Children’s Home (one of Sue’s favorite charities) to
auction off on her behalf.
This
will be a wonderful luncheon and heartfelt day for all those that new her
and Norman Watson would like to invite any and all of you to come together
in friendship to honor Sue. You
also can donate items that you do not wear any more or are too large or
don’t fit any more if you like. You
can contact Norman directly at
602-277-4516
to make those arrangements.
I hope to see you all there for a day of friendship and
remembrance.
One
Year Memorial Luncheon
One
short year ago we were saddened to loose our red-hat sister and 2004
Calendar Girl, Sue Watson to a tragic auto accident.
Her husband, Norm, has donated all her demure to far-out Red Hats,
outfits, jewelry and accessories to the Sunshine Acres Boutique.
They are reserving everything exclusively for YOUR shopping visit
AFTER your tour and luncheon.
Luncheon
highlights will include a silent auction of Norm’s Red Hatter milk can
creation as well as a “Strictly Sue designed” new hat creation donated
by Louis Hons from the Palm Springs Hat Company.
(She had to be one of his better customers!)
Sue
was involved for 30+ years with Sunshine Acres.
We can help perpetuate her efforts by participating in this event.
Their Boutique is always a classy adventure every visit!
Who can pass up an opportunity for fun, shopping and for a
deserving cause! This will be
a great chapter event and will sell out fast!

Ladies,
you don’t have to be a Michael Angelo to be a great painter.
This little shop in Mesa at 5253 E. Brown Road will put together a
party package just for you! Can’t
you imagine seeing people walking by on the street and looking in the
window and seeing 15 red hatters in there painting up a storm and possibly
painting each other! I think
it would be a hoot to do… call them at
480-654-2757
to book a time for your group – they are even open on Sundays.
NOTE:
Ladies, the two events below require a lot of time to plan and pull
together in order for you all to have an enjoyable day.
We have 350 seats reserved for CROWNS that will be a fabulous show
for us red hatters since it is about women and their hats.
But if you do not get your reservations in soon, we will have to
return the seats we have being held for us.
If you “think” your chapter will want to attend, please call
623-974-8668
or 1-866-9 red hat and let them know you will be coming and you can
collect the money from your ladies later.
They just need to know that yes, you do want to see it so they will
keep the seats and not give them back.
The
same goes for Derby Day --- you can collect your money later but let
Promenade Travel know that you will be coming.
There are two prices and they are taking reservations for both: 1)
without motorcoach transportation and 2) with transportation – bringing
you to the valley for a day of fun!

I’ve had enough….oh, I envy you ladies who head for the high

that I can escape to but there
hasn’t been any time for me to be escaping!
Many of you know that I am packing boxes and have been working on
preparing my home for sale. Don’t
get too excited --- I’m not moving far--- just four miles down the road
and a wee bit closer to my job at Mayo Clinic Hospital but I’m
reflecting on the decision I made last fall to move and think I must have
had a moment of insanity descend upon me and never considered all the work
it would take to pack my home, prepare it to be shown, and dealing with
keeping it spotless for potential buyers.
Thank goodness it sold in less than a day---now I can go back to

I have been trying to get the word out that I would like to attend the Studio 54 party on Saturday night at the National Convention. Unfortunately, you have to purchase the Studio 54 party as part of a package with a city tour. As I have been to Las Vegas many times (couldn't count them all), I am not interested in the city tour. Would you mind putting in your next AZ email an offer from me to share the cost of the package with someone if they want to do the tour but not the Studio 54 party? They could reach me via email at
jwillis42@cox.net or call me at home at 480-940-6232. I would very much appreciate the help. I would also like to know if anyone is interested in river cruising this summer in Europe.
