AZ Red Hats Updates

Dear Red Hat Sisters

Happy New Year!!!  What happened to 2007?!!  In just a blink, 2008 is here and there is so much to be thankful for, especially if you have friends you can share a laugh with through the good and bad times.  So many red hatters are just like puppies; they love you unconditionally!!  J

Our organization has grown so over the past 10 years.  Yes, 10 years!  2008 marks the Red Hat Society’s 10th birthday and that is reason to celebrate in my book!  The National Hatquarters in California said they will be celebrating their 10th birthday all year long and I’m for that!  I love an excuse to party and to do that….we can wear our colors mixed up ALL YEAR LONG!

  • Yes, if you want to wear that purple hat and red dress each and every month, just do it!

  • If you want to wear purple hat and purple dress, just do it!

  • If you want to wear a red hat and a red dress, just do it!

Celebrate!!!  And when someone asks you if it is your birthday because you are wearing a purple hat, you can tell them, “no, but it is the Red Hat Society’s 10th birthday and that is reason to celebrate!”

January 13, 2008 – PJ Game @ Herberger – 1 PM ~ Wear your jammies if you like!!! – Call Promenade Travel NOW if you want to have fun on a Sunday afternoon and never have to change your clothes after you wake up on Sunday morning!!!  Of course, wearing PJ’s is optional but we are going to have a blast and there will be many “Kodak” moments!!  1-866-9 Red Hat or 623-974-8668

March 1, 2008 – AZ RED HAT CONVENTION - Now that the holidays are nearly behind us, it is time to begin thinking about all the fun we want to have with our red hat friends next year and there is still time to reserve your seat at the upcoming AZ Red Hat Convention on March 1, 2008.  There will be lots of new vendors coming from other parts of the country so you won’t want to miss shopping for some new bling, bling, red or purple regalia and who knows what else!

We have our entertainers excited about coming to perform for you and Kacey Jones from Nashville is a real cute gal with a wonderful sense of humor whom you will just love and then there will be a very handsome man who will sweep you off your feet, ladies so come and enjoy this day of fun with your red hat sisters! http://www.azredhats.com/az2008convention.htm

3M – New meaning = Martinis & Manicures on Monday - I always love trying new things and then sharing with my friends and I’m not certain if anyone has heard of “Martins and Manicures on Monday night” but this is a real fun girlie girl thing to do.  In downtown Scottsdale there is a place called Furios in Old Town (7210 E. Second Street) and they will serve you scrumptious appetizers for $16 per person which includes tax and gratuity and then for $5.00 you can get a manicure and for $5.00 you can select any flavor of martini you wish and they have some really, really yummy ones.  It is just a neat fun thing to do so if you are interested, give them a call at 480-945-6600 to make your appointment.

March 8, 2008 – 3rd Annual Derby Day @ Turf Paradise – Get ready to parade your best “derby” and win a prize!  There will be raffles and prizes and of course, a “trifecta” salad for lunch plus more!  All the details are listed below and the price has not changed in the last 3 years; only $25.00 per person for a fabulous lunch, prizes and fun….and oh yes, play your favorite pony and you may walk out with a pocket full of cash!  If your group prefers to be transported, Promenade will pick you up at a designated area near your home if there are at least 10 ladies for that pick-up location.  Please call for more details!  1-866-9 Red Hat or 623-974-8668 http://www.ptaz.com/red%20hat%20travel.net/Derby%20day.htm

March 16, 2008 – Menopause the Musical – The whole theatre has been reserved just for RED HATTERS!!!  Won’t that be fun!  Theatre 4301 is in downtown Scottsdale and every seat is great!  Get together with your chapter on a Sunday afternoon and come to this hilariously funny musical that will get you out of your seats and make you want to dance!!

You will need to make one reservation for your group because you will save money!  There is a $7.50 charge for one reservation; therefore if you have 10 ladies going, you can divide that charge up between you.  Each ticket is $36.00 and a great savings.  Call the toll free # at 888-686-8587, ext. #11 and ask for Jana Goupil.  She is the Group Sales Manager and the one to make your reservations with for this very popular show.  Be sure to wear your red hat regalia! http://www.azredhats.com/az2008menopause.htm

AZ EVENTS – Always remember to check AZ’s web page for upcoming “adventures in fun.”  I’m always trying to find fun things for us!!!  Just click on title below for details.

Red Hat Travel Trips – What a joy it is to travel with the red hatters as we seem to have become celebrities when seen in our full regalia.  Don’t wait to sign up or you’ll miss out on loads of fun and a chance to make lasting memories!

Dear Red Hat Sisters

‘Tis the season of hustling and bustling and I must share with you what one of our chapters chose to do this holiday season in lieu of a gift exchange. They chose to purchase blankets, sweaters, socks, slippers, Fry’s and Wal-Mart Gift cards for seniors who live below the poverty level and have no family members to visit them at the holidays. So many of the red hatters agreed it was the best feeling ever, knowing they were putting a smile on someone’s face and lifting their spirits. A local organization called HomeInstead Senior Care sponsors this wonderful program called “Be a Santa to a Senior” and it is just like the angel trees in the malls only these “senior” trees can be found in the Sam’s clubs throughout the valley. If your chapter would like to think about doing this next year, you can call them directly at 623-583-5868. I know we are not about helping others but it sure does feel good and the community does enjoy seeing the red hatters spreading joy!

JAN 4-10, 2008 – Winter Break for Seniors ~ Laughlin, NV ~ See details on attachment for a week of fun and meet seniors from all over the US! This has been a growing event and this year is bigger than ever.

JAN 13 2008 – PAJAMA GAME ~ There is still time to get your reservations in for the Pajama Game at the Herberger and I hear there are lots of ladies looking for the “perfect” pair of PJ’s to wear to the play!!! Of course, it is not mandatory to wear PJ’s but it is okay to do so. If you choose not to, of course, purple regalia would be the choice of the day! Deadline is Dec 15…..call now!!! It is coming up real soon and tickets are limited, so get your reservations in now. What a hoot we’ll have and let’s plan on an early lunch or a late afternoon dinner at Sam’s Café as they are giving us a great red hat special!

The DUTTONS ~ 2008 Arizona Schedule ~ If you watched America’s Got Talent this past year, you saw one of the top ten finalists on NB was The Duttons, a talented family from Branson but who perform in AZ during the winter months. Well, guess what, I found some great bargains to bring home! I just love secondhand shopping and the desserts served were luscious to look at but more importantly, they were excellent tasting! Bright and brassy. Sexy and sassy. There’s unrest at the Sleep Tite pajama factory when Sid and Babe sit on opposite sides of the negotiating table clashing over a seven-and-a-half cent raise. But love threatens to shut down the plant as the battle of the sexes plays out in this rollicking classic from the Golden Age of musical comedy. The Pajama Game is a hit parade of irresistible songs including “Steam Heat,” “Hernando’s Hideaway” and “Hey There (You with the Stars in Your Eyes).” Stitched together for ATC by the same creative team who delighted us with the sold-out hits My Fair Lady and The Pirates of Penzance, The Pajama Game is a rambunctious pillow fight full of jazzy songs, hot dance and exuberant laughter.
