Can you believe it….it is getting cooler!!!  Hot dang; soon we’ll be getting out those sweaters and don’t forget the boas!!!  Ha Ha….those snow birdies that will be returning, safe travels and look forward to seeing you soon at one of our many upcoming all AZ EVENTS.

I’ve noticed lately that I seem to sometimes not read all the details carefully and sometimes don’t give all the details.  Could this possibly be due to my “maturing” (I hate saying getting older) or the fact that I have too much on my plate and I just overlook some of the details???  Probably a combination of both!  While reading, I’ve found it helps to highlight some of the necessary details, (including a stamped, self-addressed envelope, selecting my menu choice, listing my ladies’ names, etc.) then the details pop right out at me.  I’m all for sharing these ideas…hope this helps you because it sure helps me and I know I need all the help I can get.

Now I’m going to give you details of events happening around AZ as well as the link to go on the state’s website to get more information.  Please keep in mind, many events have deadlines to know how many people will be attending and when and where to send your checks if there is money involved.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you.

Dear Red Hat Sisters

As we all very well know, the RHS isn’t about volunteering.  We’ve done that and now it is time for us to have fun and do whatever we please, right?  That is very true, but there are still so many chapters who really do enjoy helping others and giving back to the community.  One such group is the Verde Valley Vixens in Cottonwood .  Vera Flavell is the QM and one of her ladies has a relative in Afghanistan and her ladies decided to send supplies to 8 young men.  They are gathering small packaged, foods such as chips, cookies, Vienna sausages along with bug spray, tooth brushes, deodorant, foot powder, razors, hand sanitizers, letter supplies, Icy Hot.  Some of the ladies are even crocheting tan scarves.

Another chapter is connecting with Home Instead Senior Care’s program, Be a Santa For Seniors during the upcoming holidays.  This is a wonderful organization that helps seniors who are either in nursing homes or are less fortunate than us with their daily needs.  The chapter will be receiving lists of items that seniors who live in less fortunate situations than most of us.  Their website is www.homeinstead.com and if you are interested in more information, call Sue Naperkowski at 602-588-7725 and tell her you are a Red Hatter and want to learn more.

Applebee’s Special Reception and/or offer for Red Hatters in the Valley and Tucson .  Applebee’s has developed a RED HAT Discount card that will allow you to saving money when dining at any AZ Applebee’s.  As a welcome intro to this program, they are hosting a reception from 4–6 PM in the Northwest Valley on Tuesday, November 6 and in the East Valley on Tuesday, November 13, and in Tucson (date to be determined.  I will be sending out all the details in an upcoming email as well as posting on the website at www.azredhats.com and check under AZ EVENTS.  We will need to have a rough idea how many will be attending so you will need to do a count of your ladies and email me when I send out the details so we can plan on having enough cards available for your ladies.  It will also be a nice time to WELCOME all you “Snowbirdies” back to AZ!

Parking at Sam’s Café

The address for Sam’s Café is 455 N. 3rd street   It is recommend that you come off the freeway at 7th street (from either the east valley or west valley) and go south on 7th street to Fillmore.  Take a right on Fillmore and go through the light on 5th street and turn into the parking garage on the left hand side.  That way you avoid the one-ways and the construction.  Again, it is 3 hours free parking with a Sam's Cafe validation, and you can stay parked there while you go to either the Herberger or the Symphony - I believe it is $1.00 per 1/2 hour after the first 3 hours.  So even if you parked there for 5 hours, the total price would only be $4.00 for the day.

Your chapter can pick the date that best fits in your schedule.  Vendors for shopping, Red Hat slide show during shopping and lunch, door prizes, raffle with $500 cash prizes each day, wonderful sit-down lunch with surprise desert, excellent entertainment – Richard Hampton from Las Vegas in a Tribute to Kenny Rodgers and CJ King from Florida in a Tribute to Connie Francis and Patsy Cline.  Because of the size of the venue, this will be a closed event open to ticket holders only. RED HAT TRAVEL TRIPS

Below is a list of Red Hat trips that we’ve planned for the red hatters.  There are some important points that I’d like to point out that are very important:

• Booking early helps ensure you get your choice of dining as well as cabins.  By waiting until 3-4 months before we set sail, chances are your first choice may not be available and that is very disappointing; therefore, book now.

• It is always a good idea to purchase insurance as we never know what may happen between now and the day your tour begins.  It is a wise investment.

• Full refund on cruises are 90 days prior to departure.
