AZ Red Hats Updates
March 13, 2005 Dear Red Hat Sisters Flowers
are blooming, spring is in the air and everyone is buzzing around getting
ready for the 4th Arizona State Red Hat Convention, Make Merry
at the Marriott this coming “FRIDAY” and I can’t sleep because of
the excitement that is brewing! If
you see someone dozing off during lunch, it just may be me!
Already, the Blue Sage Restaurant has over 100 reservations for
lunch from those of you who were too late to get your reservations in for
the program and entertainment and I know you will have a fabulous time
with Rick. I visited him
yesterday and walked the grounds outside where you will be sitting and it
is so serene and beautiful that you all will just add more color to the
beautiful landscape surrounding the restaurant! Update
on AZ Red Hat Convention – March 18, 2005 Yes,
we are SOLD OUT. Wow,
two months ahead of time! But
that does not mean your chapter cannot still come to partake of the
unbelievable sight – 2,000+ red hat sisters coming together in
friendship!
Below
is a “tentative” outline for the day’s activities – please do NOT
e-mail asking when the entertainment is because it’s a surprise and I
don’t wish to give away the fun we have planned for you!! 8
a.m. – Vendors will be set up outside the Grand Ballroom in a 26,000
square foot pavilion in the northwest parking lot.
Bring your checkbook, credit card and cash because I’m sure there
is something they have with your name on it! 9
a.m. – Registration opens. For
those of you lucky enough to get your reservations in early, please have
one designee to approach the Registration table to pick up your envelope
with your nametags in it. (Please
remember your chapter name.) 11
a.m. – Grand Ballroom doors open for reserved seating.
Only those with nametags will be allowed to enter. 11:
30 a.m. – 3:30 - 4 PM (don’t
hold me to it…sometimes we are just having way too much fun to stop)
Lunch, program and entertainment begins --- let the good times
roll!! Yahoo! It
is HIGHLY suggested that your chapter may want to make a sign or carry
some sort of an easily recognizable umbrella, stick, or distinctive sign
to find each other in case you get lost or can’t find one another.
We saw a variety of unique signs that helped chapter members find
each other and it is fun seeing just how clever everyone can be.
But remember, we must not block the view for our sisters sitting
behind us while in the Grand Ballroom. It
is also HIGHLY recommended to bring a shawl, boa, wrap in case you are
chilly in the Grand Ballroom. You
can always remove a sweater if you are warm rather than having nothing to
cover your shoulders if you are chilly. Please
be prepared for a LONG day of fun. We
want to give you your money’s worth and have a lot in store for you.
Our 2005 Calendar Girls will be autographing the new calendars from
9-10 AM and from 3-4 PM in the lobby outside the Grand Ballroom. Just
so everyone is aware of how the seats are being assigned below is
important information that you MUST pass on to your members so they
are not surprised when they arrive at the convention and find out their
group of 10 are split between two tables.
The meeting planner has assigned seats as the checks arrived.
If it is a large group, they are split the table so we leave no
empty seats at a table. So,
yes, your group could quite possibly be split between two or more tables.
If there are 8 of you, it is very possible that 4 will be at one
table and 4 at another table or 5/3. Please
understand it is very difficult to assign table numbers and not leave an
empty seat where no one wishes to sit by themselves and away from their
chapter. This is why we are
splitting chapters and co-mingling with other chapters and I believe it is
a wonderful way to meet new women and get great ideas for your chapter.
Please do not sit at a table that you are not assigned to (table number
will be on your nametag) otherwise, our “Purple Posse” will ask you to
leave the Grand Ballroom. This
is to be a day of fun and friendship, please co-mingle with your red hat
sisters and make a new friend! If you are coming by bus, wonderful, you will not have to worry about where to park! If you’ve not made your reservation for your group to come by bus, please visit call Promenade Travel at 623-977-8800 or 1-888-AWAY I GO to make arrangements to travel in comfort to the convention and leave the driving to Promenade Travel. $20 Per Person/Roundtrip. Red Hat WEB Page – www.azredhats.com As
you know, I’ve been trying to communicate as much information as
possible to our red hat sisters throughout the state in order that
everyone can know what is happening. This
endeavor of mine is nearly one year old now and has proven to be
successful but word still needs to be communicated that this is for
everyone to read and share. I’ve
added two new buttons on the left-hand side: 1) Red Hat Updates which is
what I send out every few days when there is a need to communicate to
everyone and 2) Chapter Links which is a way for the chapters to view
their own websites that they have created.
I’m just thrilled to see this growth and creativity that you all
are embracing and we’ll just get better and better at making our
Sisterhood of Purple a true circle of friendship.
Visit the website if you can www.azredhats.com
and share with your members as well. This
will be my last update before the convention and it may be awhile before
you hear from me “AFTER” the convention, as I may need a wee bit of
R&R. The Red Hat Times
Newsletter for March 2005 may be a wee bit late this month as I am holding
off to include the convention news in this issue so be patient….it’s a
comin’!
February 27, 2005 Dear Red Hat Sisters Now that the rain has stopped and the sun is out, it is time to put away our umbrellas and blossom like the wild flowers we are! You know our desert will be in full bloom shortly and it isn’t often that we have the opportunity to view this spectacular pallet of color. It will be a great time for picnics, hiking and touring our desert’s beauty. I love the spring here in Arizona with so many beautiful flowers to plant in our outside flowerbeds and to sit outside, having tea with our friends and observing the beauty before us. We are all so blessed to live in the beautiful southwest. Please share the information below with your chapter members. Thank you. March 5, 2005 – Surprise Stadium I am pleased to announce that Saturday March 5th, 2005 James Denton from Desperate Housewives will be visiting us at the Surprise Stadium. He will be here to throw the first pitch at 1:05 pm and will also be available for pictures and autographs inside the stadium from 12:00-12:30. Many of you will be coming by bus and most of the pick-up locations have been established for the East Valley but there are not enough riders for pick ups at Bell Rec Center or the Sundome unless more people book their reservations. Please call Promenade Travel immediately if you wish to have the bus deliver you without the hassle of parking and walking. Please call PROMENADE TRAVEL SERVICES Main Office 623-977-8800 or 1-888-AWAY I GO or email at pts@ptaz.com Please share with those who did not get their reservations in in time, that there will be opportunities for shopping, Kodak moments, dining at the Blue Sage Restaurant under red and purple umbrellas. There are no pre reservations, no contact person, no door prizes, no special recognitions, no entertainment, no reserved seating and no planned activities. If your chapter has not planned any activity for this special day, how about doing little and come on out for lunch and say hi. Could be interesting to see how many red hatters might brighten up an ordinary Monday at the Mall with their colorful assortments of attire. See you there? February 12, 2005 Dear Red Hat Sisters This should be our month to shine, don’t you think?!! I love wearing red and we see it everywhere! It is the month of love; it is heart month! At my work, we’ve decided to wear red every Friday to remind everyone how important it is to take care of our hearts as heart disease is the number one killer among women. I secretly think of it as a way of letting everyone know how much life we over 50 women still have left to live! I’ve personally made some drastic changes in my life because I have having so much fun and pleasure out of meeting and going places with all my red hat sisters, that I want to keep myself in good health so I can continue enriching my life by making new friends and experiencing new “adventures in fun.” Update on AZ Red Hat Convention – March 18, 2005 Yes, we are SOLD OUT.
